Auschwitz-BirkenauAuschwitz-Birkenau has become a symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust. The concentration camp, built by German fascists, was the place of death for about 1 million people – mainly Jews – in the years 1940-1945. Auschwitz-Birkenau is now a memorial and a museum that shows a malevolent piece of history about the mercilessness of humans.
